70th Birthday In The News

We were in the Chattanooga East Hamilton County Newspaper this week.....so it's been "announced" to Chattanooga that we are 70!!!!  Hope "all" ok with this news!!!

The Women's Auxiliary Salvation Army annual purse auction

CHS Class '60 ladies well represented at The Women's Auxiliary Salvation Army annual purse auction lunch recently!!!  Some of the photos not "clear" enough to send....but Joy Harbison Smith was there, along with others in attached photos.  We had over 300 ladies attending, and I couldn't get the CHS ladies together for a classmate photo!!   Members are:  Marie Allison Hall, Martha Kilgore Payne, Glenda Christian Clark, Damaris Davis Fallin (didn't see Damaris?), Judy Coppinger Mathis (not there), and me.

Last Saturday night at the Heritage Landing Clubhouse, the class of '60 held a 70th birthday party for the class. While not all class members are 70 yet, even the young ones came and celebrated.

No one counted, but 71 class members and guests were signed up.

Our next get together will be December the 7th at The Walden Club for a Christmas Dinner. Details to follow.

JOIN US!!  WILL BE FUN!!  Marshall (Yogi) Center owner of Rib & Loin
will cater our BBQ dinner...along with a salad bar!!! The bar will
offer soft drinks/water/beer/wine.  Harry Hagan has agreed to play his
trombone....as most of you know, he's a member of the well-known Del
Baroni Band in Atlanta..... Harry has been recognized for his talent on
the trombone and plays at many events in Atlanta!!  We were fortunate
to receive MANY donations for our 50th and have funds to cover the
expense of this celebration!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all who have already celebrated and those who will be
celebrating their 70th this year!!!  Send emails how you celebrated and
I'll forward to the class!!!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY to Glenda Christian Clark who is celebrating her 70th scuba diving at GRAND CAYMAN!!!!!

The lovely lady with me in the attached photo is Sherry Hobbs Dahrling....Charlie Umbarger was also present at a social recently for Scottie Mayfield, but I failed to get his photo before he leftl!!  Always good to see classmates!!!  We enjoyed delicious Mayfield icecream, and I'm sure classmates remember it from our "youth" ...the "brown/yellow" trucks are still delivering!!!

CHS Class '60 Ladies....those who live in Chattanooga or surrounding area

Would like to invite the ladies to lunch Friday, July 27 to hear a friend speak about her inspirational book that was recently published "Healing Words"...and she has also been featured in a well-known author's book "Women Will Save the World by Caroline Shearer."  Mary Ellen Ciganovich is a friend and neighbor of mine, and she has appeared on all the radio/TV programs in Chattanooga and is a wonderful motivational speaker.    I am planning a lunch for friends to hear her speak and if you are interested, let me know and I'll send details.

Glenda Christian Clark

I suppose most of you know the Chattanooga area was raked with storms, tornadoes, hail and high winds the last few weeks.

Glenda Christian Clark (one of the ones keeping you updated by email) was interviewed on T.V. recently regarding her work with the Salvation Army.

As Juanita Collake Oliver said in a recent email to our class

"Glenda, you are doing a WONDERFUL SERVICE to the community in Chattanooga!  Helping with the Salvation Army storm disaster relief team was a real Blessing to all!  I missed the TV interview, but Jo said your message was great!!  Sending this to the class so ALL can see the wonderful works you are doing!!!"

The area in Harrison is on Waconda Point where I used to live along with neighbors Reba Credele Prince and Payton Manning. Reba and I have moved on.....don't know what Payton will do now.

The tornado skipped over those houses and hit the marina across the bay. Used to be called Loret Marina.
