One of the benefits of writing this blog for the CHS class of ‘60 is hearing from classmates I haven’t seen or heard from in years.
This week I heard from a buddy from college. We were both members of the class of CHS ’60. But I can’t remember if I knew him at City High. Our class was composed of students from all over the area. You knew kids from clubs, sports, and school activities, but your buddies were the kids you grew up with. I’m sure I knew who he was in high school, but probably wasn’t friends with him then.
My buddy became a close friend when we pledged the same fraternity our freshman year in college. After graduation we lost touch when I left for the army and he went to graduate school.
Then, last week I got an email from him. “Just saw your picture on the Internet, he began”. I assume he saw the CHS60 Reunion Blog. This after forty-five years.
It got me thinking. I wonder how many lost friends, classmates, army buddies, and missing relatives are united through the Internet every day?
Lots, I imagine.
Blogs like CHS60Reunion, Classmates.com, Ancestry.com, and others make the process incredibly easier than it was when we graduated from City. In those days you would have had to hire a private detective to accomplish what you can do with a few keystrokes today.
As we plan the 50th reunion, getting the word out to as many classmates as possible is a top priority. Downsizing, moving closer to grand kids or a warmer climate are all happening to our classmates now. That means new addresses. Addresses to locate.
And we need your help with that. We still have a long list of missing classmates. It is easier and much cheaper to contact them with email. But we can’t if we don’t have an email address. We would also like to have a physical address. We have several great researchers on the reunion committee, but they can’t do it all.
Help us out. Please review the missing classmates list portion of this blog. If you know the whereabouts of any of the missing, let me know. Email at NormanRMiller@yahoo.com or mail to CHS60, P.O. Box 21981, Chattanooga, TN 37424.

Well, here's my story (in case I haven't already done this). Married for 18 years the 1st time and 14 the 2nd time. A total of 32 years. I had one daughter the 1st marriage and no children the 2nd. I have a wonderful son-in-law and 2 wonderful grandsons. The oldest is a Marine and the youngest is a senior this year. My daughter has home schooled them and they are smart, good looking, marvelous, sweet, well mannered, etc. young men. No social skills lacking whatsoever because of home schooling!!! It's sad that my marriages didn't work out but I'm very proud of my family and a very happy, well-adjusted individual! Although, I wish I could say I had been married for the 49 years it would have been........Life goes on.
Since I dated a boy from Red Bank, I was not as involved at CHS as I would like to have been. When thinking of memories, there is one "bad"/"sad" memory I always think of what happened to me in Psychology class my senior year. My Psychology teacher (I think her name was Ms. Stott) told me "You're just not as smart as your sister, Gloria". Gloria had won 1st place in community volunteer work in her senior year and I only got 2nd place my senior year. At the time, I thought it was pathetic that a Psychology teacher would say such a thing to a student............now, I just think it's plain ole funny!!! Have had a lot of laughs over it over the years.

We Came, We Saw, We Planned
The planning committee met today. We were at the Manker Patten Tennis Center.
That's where we will meet for our Friday June 4th, 2010 "Get To Together". We will socialize, eat a great meal catered by "Carrabbas", have a cash wine and beer bar, and listen to the music of our school years. All for only $10.00 per person.
Saturday Morning the 5th,there will be a free tour of the old CHS, followed by a round of golf at The Chattanooga Golf and Country Club, $100.00 per golfer.
Then the Grand Finale, what we have been waiting 50 years for! The "Fifty Year Reunion" with dinner and dancing at The Chattanooga Golf and Country Club.
$50.00 for for 50 years. That's a great deal. We'll meet in the "living room" for a social, then move to the banquet hall for another great meal, dancing and reminiscing.
The committee has made arrangements for a headquarters hotel. The Doubletree. Special rates will be available there as well as the Marriott.
The weekend will wind up with a breakfast buffet at the Doubletree.
It's a lot to do in a weekend, but it's been 50 years, right?
What we need from you right now is a current email address. If you don't have an email address, you probably won't be reading this, and know to send us your updated contact information in the regular mail.
Whichever you have, send it to me at NormanRMiller@yahoo.com or to: CHS Reunion, P.O. Box 21981, Chattanooga, TN 37424-0981
